My name is Ruth and I am the part-time Free Church Chaplain – this means that I am full-time in the University terms (except school half terms) and off some of the University holidays.
I am a URC minister ordained in 1996 at Weoley Castle Community Church in Birmingham, where I was then minister for seven years before moving to Keele. I am passionate about exploring new ways of being church and developing alternative worship styles.
Before becoming a minister I spent a lot of time traveling around; I did my first degree in English in the School of African and Asian studies at Sussex University and have spent time in India, Zimbabwe and Sweden. I love traveling and my friends always say I should have been a travel agent if I hadn’t been a minister!
I am married to Dave and we have three children; Thomas aged 13 and Samuel aged 12 and Hannah who is 7 They ensure that my time off is very busy!
