It does just what it says on the tin. The idea is you commit to half an hour of prayer every day. This is guided by someone with whom you will meet every day, again for about half an hour. This “someone” will help you by suggesting how you might pray and talking with you about how it’s going. The “someones” are trained, human, non-scary and won’t pass on anything you say to anyone else.
A long time ago there was a priest called Ignatius of Loyola. He dreamed up “spiritual exercises” or, ways of praying that help us get to know God better. Over time these have been adapted and changed to allow people to experience them in their daily lives, without having to become monks or make unreasonable commitments. The techniques include things like imagining you are present in a biblical story. They are not designed to be difficult, but are designed to help you get to know God better. Your “someone” might help you to use some of these techniques as you feel is right for you.
To take part in the week you need to contact Karen at the Chapel Office or one of the Chaplains. The week costs £15 for students and £25 for non-students and places are limited.
Throughout the week there will be workshops that are open for everyone to attend whether they have signed up for the week or not. Further details nearer the time.
